Ideally we want a nice warm dry day. But looking at the forecast for the weekend it looks like we're gonna get a lot of rain. What happens if it's really wet? I recall reading somewhere that they dont like to use the strip if its wet.

If they do then its good news for all those with cars lacking outright power, like mine [:D]

Just do what I do. Trawl all the weather sites until you find a forecast that you like, then stick with it! [:D]

Here's the best one I could find- http://uk.weather.com/weather/10day-York-UKXX0162

Besides you should only really be worried about the rain if you've got a front engined RWD car with far too much power...... Oops that'll be me then!! [:0]

I've just been looking at the same and getting a bit concerned, my car is terrible when its wet, talking 4 secs of the 1/4 time at least. Here's hoping the forecast is wrong.

They won't let rear drivers run at york when its raining either.

My concern was having to fork out for some tyres that actually grip in the wet, but it won't be good if they won't let rwd cars run at all, thats more than half the 'grid'. Lee - Is that the official line on this from York Raceway?

When I was there a couple of months ago and it started raining they would only let fwd and 4wd run until it dried out. Claimed it was too dangerous for rwd.

Goodo! My car is RWD with the engine in the front. It's running ACB10s (roady slicks) and it has no roof. I'll drill some holes in the floor and take the screen off just in case......

I think rain in any real quantity will have the strip out of use, all the rubber that gets laid down makes it grippy in the dry & unusable in the wet.
Have you ever noticed there's a lot of bumps on roundabouts etc when it rains after a long dry spell?
By coincidence I'm fetching a low powered FWD car with a roof!

Guess we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully it'll be dry long enough. The schedule Ed emailed out yesterday says slaloms in the morning and drag and 0-60 in the afternoon.

I've just emailed Ed to see if there's any scope to do the drag stuff in the morning if it's dry, to get it out of the way. Then we can splash about to our hearts content in the afternoon. If it is wet I probably should've gone for that 4x4 Panda with NOS!! [:D]

Thats a good idea, would rather do the drag racing first in case my car decides to die as its better at that!! [:D]
