Postby fha772 » Fri Mar 02, 2012 11:52 pm

Hi all,

Can anyone here help me?

I'm trying to find a pair of new interior door catches/handles for my Reliant Ant project.

Does anyone here know where I might get some?

Here's a couple of pictures...

They look like something you would find in a hardware shop rather than a breakers yard...

They're different to Landy ones, i know I've seen them on something else, but I can't remember what.

Look like Austin Van latches to me.

Can you upgrade to something more modern? Bear claw or after market kit car stuff?

I know someone who has a "Lambo" door kit for a Saxo project if you like. ;)

Not really, the doors are bearly over an inch thick, there's just no room to alter them.

I'm going to have a go at stripping and rebuilding these catches, but I think they're too far gone.

I was serious about the hardware shop, they look like furniture latches, a visit to a good hardware shop couldn't hurt...

IIRC, they have the forward facing chrome handle that turns a steel square section pin, that operates the handle, so hows about the mk1 Mini or Minivan door handle? You may find a Minivan/pickup not too far away....

I asked my Pa if he had any TW9 (Ant) bits left. He hasn't but said he bought a pair of door handles/catches off the shelf at an agricultural-type place that sold tractor spares. Could be worth a looksy?

Thanks Owelly, that's where I'm going to go in the next few days, there's a few farm equipment places round here, once I've removed the handles from the doors.
I know I've seen them on tractors/diggers/plant, it just bugging me where I've seen them...

The exterior handles are easy, they're off a Morris 8.

They look like the ones used on International Harvester tractor cab doors.
74 series, 84 series, 85 series & 95 series tractors fitted with Victor or L type cabs.

Thanks, but nope.
They are what the farm places had, they are about 1/2 inch wider, and the latch part(bit that sticks out and holds the door in), is offset. It needs to be inline with the handle.
It's nearly the same faults as the Landy 1, basicly, if the square hole is through the back plate, it's wrong.

But after getting them off, I think I can rebuild them...

Hopefully!!
