Late Summer track day?

Find out more information or share your days here

The jet stream is now hitting the UK on it's way North signifying a late summer this year. So are there any track days or hillclimb events (with relaxed scrutineers) around about then-ish?

I would be nice to get the Panda finished and show it some tarmac in anger. ;)

Not a PPC event as such, but the Retro-Rides Gathering is at Prescott hillclimb again this year, on Sunday 19th August. Last year runs up the hill were on offer. During the morning session, I managed 7 runs up the hill in the old green SIMCA..great fun and only £20 for munlimited runs in the morning or the same for the afternoon session. Then it was just a case of rejoining the queue in the paddock for another go. They just stipulated cars should have an MoT. Signing on was on the day, just a case of getting there early.
I'm having a go this year again, in either the Honda powered SIMCA 1000 or thi FIMCA. If you need a base for the day, I've booked stand space for the SIMCA club... last year we had everything from a Ford XR2i powered MATRA Rancho to a Ferrari 430 on the stand and you're welcome to join us on there with whatever you bring.... Practical Performance Car (PPC) magazine, a monthly publication aimed at real car enthusiasts, with real-world cars. At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Each month we feature an eclectic mix of affordable performance cars, great driving adventures and world-class technical features for the DIY tuner.

Everyone who works on the magazine is a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast and this is reflected in the cars we drive and the topics we write about. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
