:D

I do have an old copy of CCC which covers the early 2000 BTCC primera and the modifications it went through. 306bhp NA and a 8000rpm rev limit

Used the pulsar block but reversed the head to allow a ram air effect from the massive CF intake (basically the front of the car as a ramscoop) and move the block further back in the chassis. Was awesome.

I'll be up at the old folks home this weekend, I'll take some pictures and see if its worth saving or just dragging to the scrap man.

Was at the old folks home at the weekend so took some photos of it sitting there all forlorn.

My dad showed me the MOT failure sheet. 2 rust failures, underneath is rotting out too near the suspension. Other than that, a dubious wheel bearing and a CV gaiter. Emissions test was fine.

Got him to start the engine up, made a bit of a clattery noise on starting but once running it sounded normal. I suspect thats because it has been sitting and the oil has drained away from things. It has 130,000 miles on it NOT 170 as my mum said on the phone.

Other bits - passenger side window spontaneously exploded the other day in the heat, suspected delamination of the glass.
Front drivers tyre is not holding air, hence the jack in the photo

Looks to me like a parts car, engine good but body is long past best, rescuable if you're bothered but primeras this age are common in far better condition. If anyone fancies it drop me a PM and I'll pass on the contact details.

1, put a V8 in it.
2, put a V12 in it.
3, put a V8 and a V12 in it.

Or

4, slice out the entire floor pan, engine, etc.
Weld in a shortened (by 214mm) Lexus LS400.
Go Audi bating (Merlin powered coach bating?)

The ironic thing is the engine is the best bit of it!

To take advantage of that - bolt on GT25 turbo using GTI-R manifold and some ghetto fueling mods. Chop out as much of the interior of the car and shave as much weight off as possible in a similar vein to that crazy proton in the 2nd 999 challenge - go mad with a hole saw and polycarb sheets.

Put the engine and gearbox in a £200 Micra?

Then annoy a Subaru driver. ;)

But a pulsar engine is a few tweaks from 400bhp, a primera one is a bit further off that. It would scare some less serious kit though like TDI audis and stuff like that. And still get 40+mpg :D

It's an Almera GTI engine according to the blurb. The guy said it was a Pulsar and got ripped for it. ;)

Bigger engine bay...

...I'd wear a pensioner disguise (like a Beastie Boys video) and go Saxo baiting. ;)

Practical Performance Car (PPC) magazine, a monthly publication aimed at real car enthusiasts, with real-world cars. At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Each month we feature an eclectic mix of affordable performance cars, great driving adventures and world-class technical features for the DIY tuner.

Everyone who works on the magazine is a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast and this is reflected in the cars we drive and the topics we write about. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
