Blimey, you have been busy mate. Early night for you at Mallory then?
Shall I bring my spare sierra LSD and shafts or save them for Santa Pod?

If it doesn't work, expect to see a Bongo out on the track!
I wasted an hour today looking for the battery for the Turd. No sign of it anywhere. Having remembered what the big battery was that I kept tripping over, it was off the A4, I recalled fitting the Turd battery in its place. Quick trip to Halfords to replace Audi battery so I can reclaim Turd battery......

I've butchered the trailer so the car will almost fit on and now I'm sat watching the rain bounce of the car cover.......I need to swap batteries and find a way of clamping the battery to the Turd. It could be another late night...and a 5am getty-up.

Smutty mind..... But I can't get Sabine Schimdt out of my head now.
Trailer dangling off the back of the Bongo. Plastic car sat on the trailer. If I had gone for a blat up the road, which I didn't, then I certainly didn't set off dozens of car alarms. Baaarrrrp!

At the back of the yard, they're stacked five high. It's not usual for punters to be allowed past the massive dog but I winked at it.....

A quick update.....
Shakedown at Mallory went well once the track dried. I was beginning to think I'd totally screwed-up the rear axle gubbins as the car was just about impossible to drive in the wet!
Once dry, the lack of working steering reared its head once more so that needs sorting.
The engine got too hot when worked hard so it needs a bigger radiator.
My araldite bodge on the diff cover gave way whilst cocking about on the campsite after the event so that needs to come off and a blob of ally clagging on.
Then it'll be good enough for the £999.
It still needs a new pedal box making to make the clutch and brakes usable but that can wait until after the new front brakes are made to fit.
The whole car needs to come to pieces so I can make the chassis square and symmetrical and to make the body fit better, but that will be near the bottom of the list.

I wouldn't worry about the wet weather handling mate, that track was seriously slippy at times in the morning. My Gerrards exit speed went up from about 60mph in the wet to about 95mph in the dry!! :wtf:
I think the rad'll probably be OK for the £999 too as it's only short blasts, not like the sustained thrashing of a trackday.
The steering sounds like it's the BIG issue to me. I've got various steering UJs here if you need owt.

I've sorted the steering. A length of garden hose and two Jubilee clips.

If you saw me on the handling course, I would agree. I needed both hands on one side of the wheel to get it anywhere considering turning.

Practical Performance Car (PPC) magazine, a monthly publication aimed at real car enthusiasts, with real-world cars. At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Each month we feature an eclectic mix of affordable performance cars, great driving adventures and world-class technical features for the DIY tuner.

Everyone who works on the magazine is a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast and this is reflected in the cars we drive and the topics we write about. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
