That's a shame, hope it gets sorted. Wouldn't be the same without the 'TT'. :eh:

HA! In your face, you doubting Thomaseseses....
I had a spare day today plus a couple of hours lastnight and the result is........
Old Alfa engine out. Gearbox off. Gearbox bolted to Pug V6 and the whole lot dropped back into the Turd. I have roughed out (they will stay!) engine mounts and will need to adjust the rear 'box mounting which means the hole in the transmission tunnel will
need 'stretching' but it's close enough. The old chimneys align with where the Pug manifolds end so they just need new flanges welding on. The Polo rad Jaffa gifted the project fits in the nose of the car and just needs a couple of holes in the lower x-member to secure. I've cut the pipes for the coolant and need to use my new patented beading tool to stop the hoses from getting off.
I've modified the area where the current pedal box fits so the air intake plenum will fit without too much fuss and I've made a new floor mounted pedal box which fits a treat but as yet, it still needs bolting down and plumbing in.
The sump on the Pug V6 is no lower than the flywheel so it needs no modifications and the oil filter is tucked out of the way so no need for the remote housing.
I've retained the entire fuel supply from the tank, through the LP lift pump, through the Golf GTi HP and swirl pot up to the filter and onto the fuel rail. I need some Pug fittings to retain the unclippy hosey bits otherwise I'll just push rubber hoses on and a worn drive clip or two.
Just the sparks to sort out and it will be a runner.
As for the chassis: I've maesured the rear end for the de-dion conversion and Auto Cad'd some dimensions. I'll get on with that at the weekend whilst at work. The front end may not get the double wishbones just yet. Just a tweak of the current wishbone upper/Escort TCA setup.
So. You pack of gibbering pillocks who would rather sit on here twisting at me for not getting on with the Turd, than get on with your own £999 projects, who's laughing now? Eh??

PS. None of the above is true. The car is still in the shed where I dumped it after the last £999. I've been to the Autosport show this weekend and to IKEA for meatballs and jam......

they will never make it anywhere near the car.

if they do, it will be undrivable. He needs one of the pedal to be wedged under the seat and the other two flapping around in footwell somewhere. Its what he is used too.

Is the Turd's floor strong enough to take that pedal box?

I took a piccy of the old pedals and used a paper template to see if the new pedals would fit. After ten minutes digging the leaves out of the car, I got the money shot. Then I noticed how spazzy the pedals were. No wonder it was like driving an At-at* that had been converted for someone with a severe disabilty.

Practical Performance Car (PPC) magazine, a monthly publication aimed at real car enthusiasts, with real-world cars. At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Each month we feature an eclectic mix of affordable performance cars, great driving adventures and world-class technical features for the DIY tuner.

Everyone who works on the magazine is a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast and this is reflected in the cars we drive and the topics we write about. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
