Hi Loz, I don't think there is a silicon general kit for the GTE. I had my made up by siliconhoses.com I sent my original hoses to them and they took patterns and and produced a trial set for me. They were going to make a general kit deprnding on my feedback. However a couple of the pipes didn't quite fit (just too tight), so I asked them to make a couple more, but I never heard anything from them again. I tried contacting them a couple of times then gave up.

Most of the Scimitar hoses are fairly standard and you could probably buy lengths of silicon hoses and adapt them to fit.

I had my heads converted to unleaded quite a few years ago, but people that converted them did a crap job and the valve seats dropped out and pretty much wrecked my head, 2x valves, 2 x pistons and the block.

So I have run on normal heads ever since without any problems.

feck, that's nice. ever thought about tracking done the turbo kit from turbo technics?

but rover isn't the way to go. too long nd then makes fitting awkward. ford 5 litre is nice and compact and shoves out more power and doubtful it wil ever become obsoulite thanks to the yanks love of V8's

or to chuck out ford chevy smll block

Thats a right mess. I've been doing endless calculations and seeing various lecturers about turbo charging and injecting the essex, all was going well till i phoned the expert (Ian Danials) and he said that the standard pistons wont take more than 6psi even with a lowered CR Bummer! dont know what to do now, i could just inject it, but i want a real power hike.

What was wrong with that piston? It just looked a bit like a castle battlement, nothing too major...

TBH, what with the Essex being a 60's/70's ford engine all that damage is probably within the manufacturing tolerances anyway!
On a tuning tip... it will add weight, but what about a supercharger sat over the essex?

Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent.
