Any luck with that BEF?

On another note what do we think about the ford twincam?

Ive found both for sale efi and carby, efi is rated @ 123bhp and carb is 107bhp! big drop eh.. but both have same torque @ 174N/m so which do i go for the ease of installation with the carb or buggering about with the efi?

Thing is efi is obv better but exactly how much buggering about will i need to do? of course I will need a efi spec fuel pump and lines these are easy, exactly how complex is the actuall efi system? is it standalone? or will it require unpicking from the loom?

I'm also thinking if I decide to go crazy and turbo/supercharge it the efi will be a lot more versitile...

Also does anyone know what the mounts are like on the DOHC as it fits in a sierra it should fit in a capri but are the mounts similar to a pinto?

Whoop whoop! now I got me a Ford Twincam with 'box complete with ancilleries, engine, loom and ecu on ebay, all ready to drop into the blood red demon capri of speed...

Also in a quiet moment when i was 'bored' I won a complete 2.9efi cologne engine with 4x4 box hence my other question on here....

I did stumble across a scorpio cosworth the other day in a local scrappie, but the yard wanted £300 for it which is ok but it was the later 'BOB' type one which I have been told is bugger to get running independantly from it's origional grandada....

Just 13" Ghia ones I think (car is a 1978 3.0 Ghia)

actually in that photo it dosent look too bad - but even the panels that looked good, you could poke holes in with your little finger

mechanicals were salvagable, but it would have been be a waste of money to sort the 3.0 V6 (I was given the car for the engine!)

I actually gave the car to someone in the scottish capri ownes club for nowt - wheels, v.good interior, working autobox and all (contact throught there website)

Oh they are soooo yesterday...

But if you must, do not pay UK ebay premiums. Use Jorman or Dutch ebay. Better still use the USofA ebay and buy one of their Mercury Capri grilles...

... they say CAPRI not FORD and have indicators built in.

Or go better and fit a Tickford style front panel.

Alcohol addled brain seems to recall a bloke who advertises in Retro Ford near Heathrow. Breaks most old Fords and is an Aladins cave of Gucci Gear. Gotta be worth a google.....

Practical Performance Car (PPC) magazine, a monthly publication aimed at real car enthusiasts, with real-world cars. At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Each month we feature an eclectic mix of affordable performance cars, great driving adventures and world-class technical features for the DIY tuner.

Everyone who works on the magazine is a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast and this is reflected in the cars we drive and the topics we write about. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
