what do you have an how are you doing it? Cars or trick bits, put your shots up here.

Yep, about 180, but obviously a bit heavier.

So, at the moment, I don't really know what to go for. I still like the idea of the T16, but also i realy do like the idea of a v6.

If the alfa V6 would fit in, and I could find one easily enough, that would be the thing to have.

So, if anyone comes across an engine they think will fit, and is cheap enough, let me know.

Oh the KV6 suffers the same problems as the other k's, only has thinner sleeves, to achieve the greater bore

When I was on using the M series 16v (just an earlier version of the T) in my grasser I weighed one & seem to remember with the manifold it was about 160ish kg.

P.S. you have U2U on locostbuilders!

Bit of an update.

The pool of water was definately coolant.

The lady who sold the car said that she had to fill the coolant bottle up.

I have just managed to get out and lok at the car for the first time today, in between sessions of thunder and heavy rain.

No obvious sign of HGF yet

Coolant bottle is squeeeeeky clean, with lots of clear fresh water, due to it just being filled up.

Dip stick, nice clean fresh looking oil.

Engine oil cap, nice and clean.

Next step, bleed the system.

Went to the rad and undid the 13mm plastic bolt an the rad, but nowt came out.
Oh, I thought, better open the head bottle cap.

When I opened it, I could hear running water, so closed it again.

Rad now had water all the way to the top.

Closed rad bolt, and when to open the header bottle cap again.

SHOCK OF SHOCK, i could still hear running water.

But this time it was coming from the left hand side of the engine, above the gearbox.

And it was RUNNING out enough to make a noise, not dribbling.

As its started to lash downm again, I have not had a chance to find out where its actually come from. And its a bloody difficult place ti get to.

Every time i try takinmg the hood down to get to the top of the engine, it lashes down again.

Does this mean that the HG is fine, or could it stil be bugggggered?

could be just a water leak , but ive no idea , since that last time i looked at a k series was about 3 years ago .

true test will be finding and fixing the leak , getting it running and seeing if its buggered .

Foud the leak on the car.

Its a metal pipe which is a bit strange.

I might just cut in half and put a bit hose over it [:D] Yorkshire bodging

So if the K series is OK is it good or bad? Less reason to pull it out & replace with something more lively! On the other hand if you're still keen on a transplant you have something to sell to off-set the cost.

It could always have failed due to the cooling system becoming over presuurised by the leaking of combustion gasses into the water jacket caused by the failing of the head gasket...

Sorry, I'll get my coat.

If the k is ok, then run it until I find the transplant, strip the transpant, and have everything I need to do the transplant.

Then hopefully, flog the engine and seats to see if i can recoupe £250, then if my sums are correct (assuming I am allowed to sell a max of £250)

£400 - £250 =£150
Donor car £400 =£550
Bracing struts £50 = £600

leaves me cash for rollover bar, poly bushes, new gearbox bearings

Yeah your maths looks in good shape. I think you should be able to get the £250 easily for sold bits if the HG hasn't failed and its all running good.
