The Invisible Car Part II

what do you have an how are you doing it? Cars or trick bits, put your shots up here.

Bored at work today and worried about the £999 Challenge and googled "Fiat Cinquecento Turbo Conversion" to see if I could get it done in time and on (a very limited) budget.

I found R.G.S Motorsport who are just up the road from Santa Pod and as well as being a nice bunch have just got a brand new four wheel drive rolling road.

As I already have the bike carb's and bits I've been re-inspired to give it a go. ;)

Slightly off topic.

Car art?

Could make an interesting t'shirt for the event eh?

Also if anyone is daft enough to buy a print the money can go towards the build. ;)

Four carb's may have been a little optimistic. I had a look at the inlet manifold and am already looking a swapping my CBR carb's for a pair of TDM ones. ;)

Pity I sold my Alfa as it had a pair of Webber down drafts.

I was looking at Pumas with the idea of putting a ST24 V6 under the bonnet.

I wanted a millenium yellow one so I could take the bumpers off paint the shell violet and put the bumpers back. ;)

Number boards arrived yesterday. The same guys who custom made the "Guff" stickers have done it again....

...marked a "dispatched" minutes after the order was placed and arrived the next day.

Once again I'm very happy with the results and would like to thank Roy for doing it so quickly and to such a high (unlike the rest of the car) standard (sending this thread link with a "thank you" message so I'm not talking to myself).

Have a look at what else he can do and if you don't see what you'd like don't be affraid to ask.

When I took the dust shields out I noticed the drivers side "A" pillar was dented. The drivers side wheel rubs on full lock and the passenger side doesn't.

Does explain the uneven tyre wear as well.

Anyway. Planning ahead for next year.

My violet and yellow colour scheme will be back. ;)

I'd rather build a car that goes and stops than one that explodes.

So I picked up the rear beam today. My idea of fitting the complete Punto GT rear assembly to the Cinquecento to widen the track the same as my old 205/309 conversion hit a snag.....

Image|http://thumbsnap.com/Dw0TTsn0

...the Punto is more than a Foot wider.

So I set about stripping the bits off I need. Discs one good the other fecked. Pads, one pair nearly new the other pair shot (the pad material fell off the metal backing). Wheel bearings one good one shot (spotting the patern yet?). The backing plates both need cleaning and painting. I'll give the calipers a once over with a wire brush and a coat of vht before I fit them as well.

So that's the neighbours happy for another night. Finished just in time for the rain. I've sold the rear beam to a freind who needs it for a trailer he's building (I didn't ask) and that'll cover the costs of a new pair of discs and set of pads (£29.99 on eBay I'll see what the locals can do in the morning). ;)

Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent.
