there cheap but not £999 cheap for the power, and only worth really fitting if going for standalone fueling. for your m50 just buy a set of m3 throttle bodies and stick them on

If I'm honest, I wasn't too impressed with ITB's on an m20. Considering what they cost, especially with standalone, it just isn't enough bang for my buck. They do look damn good though! My own road car has got to the point where if I want to get more than the 200+ it currently has, I'm going to have to spend more money than I'm prepared to? Mind you, it's enough fun as it is.

Anyway, as I want to come and play I bought this....

It's running those dreaded carb' things but I loves em. I loves the noise they makes too!

The TWR, with the m30 BIG six....

You can see just how little room is left between the block and the bulkhead. I've fitted a tubular manifold and exhaust system.

Obviously there are staggered Alpina rims which will also be refurbished at some point. I'm not going to stress too much about cosmetics though. I'm more concerned with getting it mechanically sorted. The pretty stuff can wait.

Finally found myself a workshop today! Months of searching finally paid off! No more stupid council lock-up with an old battery for light. Means I can now give the race car some love in an effort to make the event at Crystal Palace in May.

I can't tell you how chuffed I am to finally have somewhere to play. Even council lock-ups are £25 a week round here and they're not much use really.

Well I got accepted for Crystal Palace on May 29th so I need to get the race car ready. Fortunately, after giving it a proper inspection, the only jobs left to do are pretty simple one's like wiring up the fuel pump switch & moving the seat.

I stripped and cleaned all the brakes before adjusting them all up and now they're much better than they were. Still not as good as my road cars Wilwoods though. I might have to sell some bits and buy another pair?

I'm also on the hunt for a new seat. I need something for the larger gentleman! I can sell the current pair of blue Monaco's to fund it though. Or at least that's the plan. I have found a nice XL Recaro but even used, it's £400! plus the cost of a subframe etc. If anyone has a lard arse seat they'll part with, please get in touch.

I could also do with some advice on balancing triple Webers. I know some folks hate carbs but I like them myself. Plus, my budget doesn't allow me to consider replacing them. I think they suit the car and its era anyway. Again, if someone can ran thru the basics I would really appreciate it.

I want to tidy the bodywork up too. Once I have touched up the white paint and removed all the old decals etc, I plan to just use vinyl in true Blue Peter fashion. I figured a thick, central stripe from front to back, in the BMW motorsport tri colours would look pretty trick? It should be simple enough for me to do as well. I say ''should''.

I'm also wondering if a drop back down to 13'' rims from the 15's might be a good idea? Being sprint events I want to make the most of whatever acceleration is available to me.

I'm in at the deep end with all of this stuff and trying to learn as I go.

Anyway, a few pics.

I've moved this over because its evolved into a 'someone building too many E21's' thread. Good work that chap

At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
