How do you get an extra 70bhp from a 300zx TT and end up with 420bhp?

No way 420bhp can be achieved without a whole lot more than just a chip. I know, been there done it.(close to anyway)

Who is kidding whom?....Shouldnt this claim have been edited? I thought this mag was supposed to be helpfull and without the BS

Not got this months mag (or last months yet!) but it's never been known for its proof reading but it would be nice if they got the figures right first time, probably supposed to be 320bhp, although that doesn't add up either as weren't they 280bhp from the start?

I shall comment further once I've read the mag.

Well it's a readers car isn't it, I assume the chaps pretty much reproduce the info they've been sent in and take people's word on their cars.

That may well be true, but PPC is often refered to as "The Bible" etc. And to blindly reproduce some "claim" of BHP without consideration is not what I at least expect.

It is not going to take more than 3 seconds of thought to realise this claim is rubbish.

There was a recent thread about what we would like to see in the mag, and why some people are saying its lost its edge. Well look here for an answer to both. What I dont want to see and why it may have lost its edge.

It's a fair point. Personally I take the stuff like readers cars with a pinch of salt and not as gospel. I'd be less forgiving of a factual error if it was in a technical article or a guide of some sort.

Agreed, but even still....you have to question the owners intentions.

If we assume he likes his ZX there is no way he dosnt know what BHP it left the factory with. So, 280 or 300 depending on where you read it, plus 70, hopefull maybe, is 350 or 370. But there is a whole lot of wishfull thinking there I say.

And one more thing, at the claimed power or as close as just a chip can get I think its not going to last long if used with vigor. Be interesting to hear from the owner. Lol

Might not be true in this case but usually when a club car gets a magazine article the club forums are all over it and can often be far more cutting about it. Maybe a peek over at 300zx.co.uk or zxclub.net is in order to get the full truth.

His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics.
