Harness eye bolt location...
I just thought I'd ask for the collective opinion on this...
I have a couple of questions about the location of the eye bolts, for my harnesses.
First, I was planning to fit the eye bolts for the lap straps to the original captive nuts fitted to the car.
My problem is, the outer bolt is in the bottom of the A pillar, but the inner bolt is, on the tunnel, is located roughly 6" further back, and 2" higher.
Will this be ok to use, or would I be better relocating the inner bolt, so it's level with the outer bolt?
Second, the bolts for the shoulder straps...
They will fit into the top edge of the parcel shelf/seat back panel.
Do I fit them horizontally, so they are facing the back of the seat, or do I fit them vertically, so they are pointing towards the roof?
I think horizontal would be the better way to fit them, but thought I'd ask...
Cheers Frank

Shoulder straps at shoulder height is a good idea. You need to weld the eyelets to the strongest point possible. I'd personally weld them to the shelf as close to the vertical join as possible and go so far as to seam weld the two panels together for extra strength.

I've mounted the shoulder strap eye bolts high up on the rear seat panel, to keep them as level as possible.
I've had to compromise with the lap straps, the outer strap is using the factory captive nut, but I've moved the inner strap, lower down the transmission tunnel than the original captive nut, but I couldn't move it any further forward, because the centre bearing and handbrake cable mounts are in the way of moving it forward.
So, they are level height, but not opposite each other, but I think they'll be ok.
Here's some pictures, I think it's looking pretty business like in there now...
