A friend of mine remembered mentioning the Phantom replica in the pub and sent me the link.

Must be the V8 badge on the back doubling the output. ;)

Calibra Turbo 4x4's a getting pretty rare now. I can't see this one being beyond restoration.

The price is a bit steep. If it was £100 though it might have some useful bits that I still need :D

Mind you at that price I could set myself up as a company doing modern day midgets!

That Calibra would be hard to restore, as you would have to do all the initial work with your eyes closed...

I think the only bit of the MG that's not rusty is the glass, and that appears to have corrosion...

For £100, it would give you a V5 Will!

Good thinking... he has it up twice, here is the other auction, get him to post you the log book and chassis plate, and scrap the rest, you wouldn't even have to travel to Co. Cork :)

I'd strip the kit off and restore the Capri if she's a Crayford. ;)

This would be brilliant...

Can somebody please explain why these make so much, I mean I was raised on club rallying and love them as much as the next man, but I just can not see any sense to the money they make, especially the likes of this, because clucking bell it's rusty...

I thought this was the best place to put my latest saga. Since mid July I have been looking for a new car that will do all the day to day stuff and warm my trousers and perhaps break down but only when convenient. I narrowed the list down to 4; Saab 9-5 2.3 or Aero, Cav SRI 16v, Alfa 156 and Vectra GSI.

After tracking down a local Alfa I arrnaged to view the next day only to be told as I was leaving that it had been sold. Finding another in Swindon through the bay with bidding starting at 650 and BIN for £1450. I thought he was a dreamer for the BIN but messaged for a phone number. He duly sent back with his number and upped the minimum bid to a grand!!!

I didn't bother calling. He still has it up on a classified listing for 1450.

Since that I have found a couple of Vectra's one of which sold before I could get to it, another that sold but was still advertised and one that went for 700 sheets in the last seconds of the auction because swmbo wouldn't let drive 90 mins there and back to see it on Sunday. So after about two weeks of absolute frustration and tantrums a Veccy landed so close I can walk to it.

Practical Performance Car (PPC) magazine, a monthly publication aimed at real car enthusiasts, with real-world cars. At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Each month we feature an eclectic mix of affordable performance cars, great driving adventures and world-class technical features for the DIY tuner.

Everyone who works on the magazine is a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast and this is reflected in the cars we drive and the topics we write about. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
