Hi guys,

Thanks for the kind welcome. Indeed it was the famous Brookland "Members Banking". I went to a New Years day event at Brooklands. It was a fantastic day!! There were many superb cars of all ages. I posted some pictures on my site. The first page is of our group of Scimitars that were there, but go to the next couple of pages to see some of the awesome motors that attended.

See: http://www.sporting-reliants.com/Brooklands.htm

I was lucky to get my car on the track to take the pictures. They had fenced off the track to the public, but when I told one of the organisers that I had just driven 112 miles to get there early on New Years Day they kindly let me take some static photos. I would have loved take the Scimitar around the banking at speed! maybe another day [:p]

Hi Loz,

I have had my Scim for over 8 years and have done a few changes while I have had it. Its has the stainless steel exhausts/tubular manifolds and ss petrol tank. The front end was lowered by swapping around the lower wishbones, then later I fitted fully adjustable AVO shocks. It has been polybushed, uprated radiator, fitted a citroen bx cooling fan and silicon water pipes, steel timing gear, 15" x 7" Wolfrace wheels, Avon 202/50 15" tyres. Last year I rebuilt the engine. Nothing too major, it was rebored to +20, I fitted a V62 Kent Cam, the heads and inlet manifold were opened up a little.

Have a look at some of the changes it has been through since I have owned it: http://www.sporting-reliants.com/my_car.htm

I would love to have an LSD next, but I am out of work at the moment, so my budget is very low [:(]

The Essex engine can be very expensive to repair and certain parts are getting difficult to find, so quite a few Scimitar Owners that have fitted Rover V8 engines or even 5.7 litre engines!! Have a look through my "modified Motors" section:

What wrong the essex V6 Vahtt8, beside the fact that you like V8's and its not one. Mine pulls like a beaut, uses no oil, and is more powerful than a standard 3.5l rover V8, it doesn't make the same noise, and i guess its heavy, but dont let the cologne V6 that came later fool you, many peoples opinion is that the essex is a lot stronger.

I've done the usual SS this and that, including, tubular manifolds, which i'm told was quite a find. The main one, and one i'm quite proud off, is the conversion to a Borg Warner T5 gearbox having had 3 broken type F (original) ones. Oh and i managed to get hold of some lovely alloy rocker covers on the cheap. Its got a BX fan for which i've fitted a relay, converted to unleaded heads, and i was told it has a fast road cam in there somewhere. the list goes on, as you can imagine.
