Intake Plenum = the bulbous bit which holds the air prior to it being divided (hopefully) equally down the throttle bodies.

Sorry, I thought it was an aftermarket item, I didn't realise the standard one was so nicely made - I'm looking for something like this for an engine project I'm working on. I did a search on Ebay and found this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RARE-NISSAN-SUNNY ... dZViewItem

Which mislead me into thinking that is what an OE one looks like - of course, It's listed as a GTIR, but isn't.

Thanks for the link, I shall make some not very discreet enquiries. [:)]

Well you did ask....

I dunno why you can't believe that I thought that, I have never seen a GTIR engine up close in my life.
Take a look under any turbo cars bonnet and you will see some terrible designs, the Cosworth one springs immediately to mind, the VW/Audi isn't great either, both have aftermarket replacements available.
The Nissan one looks a beauty, it's also very rare to see production cars running seperate TBs, I know other Nissans have these too - very efficient, but not many other manufacturers bother.

Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent.
