A queue of Q-plated cars?

If you can’t stand the smell of petrol, if you don’t get goose pimples when a dragster launches, or if your manicurist’s phone number is on speed dial, bugger off. PPC in the Park is not for you. But for the rest of you we’ve some good news. PPC in the Park is back 19th May 2012 at Mallory Park

What's the score with a queue of Q-plated cars? Most of them will be heading for Stoneleigh on the weekend of May1/2/3......or is that the plan? To lure them to PPCintPark on Saturday and then send them off to Stoneleigh on the Sunday and Monday???
I'll be bringing my Q-plated car so can I play?

ETA...Has this been publicised on the Kitcar type forums?

Stoneliegh is on the sunday (tomorrow) and monday only. And hence there is nothing to stop them also going to PPC, and infact, then going in convoy to stoneleigh to camp on the sat evening.

I dont know how well it has been published, although afaik, not very well. No mention of it on WSCC, nothing on LocostBuilders till yesterday in the for of a individual asking if anyone else was going as he was. Few replied.

I was actually there, in a q-plate, and although saw it on the program didn't know it was a record attempt and didnt take part.

I only went for the afternoon, largely for the autotest (im a member of loughborough car club who ran it) although i had a quick wander round with the other people from loughborough uni motorclub who had been there all day and where also on and off track.

the guy in the westfeild? were you having problems with the car bud? it was an ok event but considering the amount of people entering and the amount of time spent waiting for people to have a go, i think more runs should have been gived for £10 than 3 ... maybe thats down to ppc and not loughbourogh car club.. id like to see this as more of a main even next year and have it better organized.. i.e some info up on a board telling people wtf is going on...how to pay ect...

Depends which westfeild, I was in the yellow one.

Ive got a bit on an ongoing issue with the startermotor as its got the wrong flywheel in it from the previous owner and the handbrake adjuster is a bit dead but other than that there is not real issue with the car.

you where faster than me on your second set of runs, but slower than me on your first set which actually resulting in average time that was the same as mine. But certainly it was one of the faster cars after a few runs with only the Metro and Nova putting out a faster time.

But yeah as you say, the organisation on PPCs part could have been better, I was told to go down to the ppc tent to pay and when i got there they didnt know what to do and in the end took my £10 and gave me a torn off piece of paper '£10 for autotest paid' written on it in biro. Why they couldnt have had someone at the event taking money, or set loughborough car club up to do that for them i dont know.

However, ultimately, it was the first time i'd had a go and i thought it good laugh and would defiantly have another go again, Hopefully they do the same next year and sort it out to get more people through it.

I dont know, the VTR is a fairly competent car. My cousin did a year of SaxMax and its really is impressive how rapidly they do shift

I guess if you want to talk about arse kicking you want to look at the times Georgie and Alex where putting out in the transit becuase they where faster round than the other westfeild, the VX200, the Simca, the M5, and your first run in the Saxo.

For me the only slightly annoying thing is that the only clean run i got was my untimed first practice run, second and third runs (38.1/38.3) I had to put in one of two additional reverses, having to put in both in the second (44.3) which suggests a reverse is worth about about 8 seconds.

Take eight seconds from 38 is 30seconds. Three of those and i would have been on part with Tom in Richards fully preped nova! haha.

If there do it again next year, rematch :P

I might just ditch the kit and do it in the Pug!

Nothing wrong with maths, just the driving!
- I have two cars with non-working handbrakes to choose from, but working is surely cheating.

Practical Performance Car (PPC) magazine, a monthly publication aimed at real car enthusiasts, with real-world cars. At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Each month we feature an eclectic mix of affordable performance cars, great driving adventures and world-class technical features for the DIY tuner.

Everyone who works on the magazine is a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast and this is reflected in the cars we drive and the topics we write about. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
