The Tupperware Turd will be back!!

Postby owelly » Thu Oct 28, 2010 8:57 pm

So, a bit like an arthritic old woman, the Magenta will be back in 2011. I'm sure it won't be finished enough to be any good but I'll try to get all the bits together to get it off the trailer. There's usually plenty of pushing hands around to get it back on.....
So, one arthritic old bint:

And a bit of a twist for 2011:

This will be holding its arse off the floor:

I'm not too sure the vice and bench will be needed under the car though...

And this will be twisting the wheels:

And I'm referring to the diff, not the spindly piece of rope which is probably stronger then the old set-up.

So, if it all gets together under the same flimsy plastic tub, it may just get off the trailer.....

If the only bit of a Magenta is the fibreglass body, I'm still screwed as the previous owner attacked the shell with an axe.....

Mid-mount it longways with the two drive shafts going to matching diff's.

Permanent four wheel drive and a light weight chassis. ;)

Swap the Cortina hubs up front for XR2 ones and drive shafts to get the front wheels turning off the front diff' as well.

The engine is..

as promised.
And for those of you with keen eyes and an interest in XR4x4s, will recognise the struts and uprights....

Holy sh1t, have you been borrowing Sootys van? :o
The back of my Ranger looked the same when it was full of V6 Toyota.
How much does a Pug V6 go for then? I don't suppose they're that popular are they? The Camry V6 's price is bumped up due to all the MR2ists wanting one :(

£200 for the engine and everything it needs to make it run. ie. loom, ECU, coils, starter motor etc... They have value to the folks squeezing them into 205s and 306s. They guy wanted £400 for the engine, gearbox, pedal box and all the other 406 Coupe bits needed to transplant it into a different car. I explained that I had a limited budget, didn't need most of the stuff he was offering and I didn't need a working gearbox but one would be handy to use as a pattern for the bellhousing. For £200, I got the engine, all the bits and a gearbox which either, jumps out of second gear or has a knackered clutch. He had two with gearbox or clutch problems but couldn't remember which was which. I chose the closest.
I could have got a complete car for £400 but I don't have the time or space to strip it.
