I'd have gone with the opposite and said oversteer would be the issue esp with the torque now on tap!
Steer it on the throttle, like a hero! lol

I've always found MR2's to be quite neutral, handling wise, but extra power or wet/greasy conditions would make it oversteer, imo!

There's no rush Mark, I'd rather take it steady and avoid mishaps!!
The engine was stripped and cleaned last weekend. The heads are on the bench and I've started porting them but -5degC handling an air die grinder is not really ideal!! :o It's awkward to do a neat job with the guides still in so I'm considering grinding them flush with the ports maybe just on the inlets. What do you think?

Not finished by any means but hopefully I'm going in the right direction with it.

No not really, just took the casting marks out mainly. The main bits are smoothing out / rounding the SSR, guide boss, splitter and where the valve seats are machined in.

Xmas has come early!! :D

Was going to make one of these from plans on the internet, but spotted this-

http://www.twobrutal.com/shoptest/

As they're readily available to everyone then it shouldn't be a problem to just add £1 to the budget, and save me a loada hassle. Anyone else considered a V6 MR2 and can collect from the North East (Durham)?
There was a bit of a huu-har regarding copyrights for this when first produced so I'm guessing they're clearing this type out to start selling the version 2.

We always cut back valve guides on 'race spec heads', ports have come out nice mate.
I know how you feel with projects in this weather!!!!
Don't want any MISHAPS Do we!!!! lol

That mount was a bloody good result mate, save time/money and all that, i think getting the V6 into an MR2 is hard enough as it is, at least the engine mount being done for you...for half a pint, is gonna make things a bit easier!

Ta Mark, I'm just a bit concerned about how much guide will be left if I take them down flush. And if it's really worth doing on the exhaust side?
It's nice to know that the V6 should drop straight onto its mounts once squeezed into place, rather than messing about taking it in and out to make adjustments :D

Is there much body cutting to make the V6 fit or is it just the mounts that are needed?

No body cutting and just 1 mount at the cambelt end. The other 3 'engine' mounts are on the std gearbox which bolts straight up to the V6. :D

Makes you wonder why the factory didn't do it. A Lexus V8 or bonkers V6 version with a few tweaks would have held its own against the NSX.

Practical Performance Car (PPC) magazine, a monthly publication aimed at real car enthusiasts, with real-world cars. At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Each month we feature an eclectic mix of affordable performance cars, great driving adventures and world-class technical features for the DIY tuner.

Everyone who works on the magazine is a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast and this is reflected in the cars we drive and the topics we write about. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
