FX4 V8?

The good old FX4 Taxi is slowly becoming obsolete. I like the idea of a real sleeper with banded steelies, some (probably quite comprehensive!) chassis work and a stonking great Chevy LS lump up front, with the possibility of forced induction. Want it to look standard though...

However this is only AFTER I win the lottery...

I haven't done the maths but I'm thinking you may struggle to make a living, even doing airport runs

Dunno they do charge a lot those airport taxis. For maximum effect you'd have to keep the tiny turning circle so you can use it for autotests as well

Correct me if I'm wrong about this (by the use of the term "correct me" I do not mean throw your toys our of the pram, leave the forum and hit a innocent pensioner with your manpurse) but weren't the FX4s build under licence by a company called Carbodies when BL stopped using Austin as a comercial name?

Didn't they also have the Nissan LT diesel engines ranging from the 2.2 to the 2.7?

The same engine that is in the Nissal Patrol and a turbo diesel version in the Nissan Terrano?

Wouldn't it be easier to retro-fit the turbo diesel (up to 4.2 I think), a bigger turbo and a cuffing great intercooler?

The V8 Taxi's a good idea and I'm sure it can and has been done but big power diesels are in vogue at the moment.

There is a firm somewhere that does 30's ford bodies for them. Carbodies made the FX for years until the Metrocab came in with Transit underwear or later Nissan power. They can be had quite cheaply if you look in the right place as the political correct mob like those Fiat Doblo things and wheelchair access and all the personality of Anthea Turner which is a shame because that was one of the London landmarks along with the routemaster that can also be had for less than Frank charges for under-the-counter battered marsbars

They can only seat 3 aswell where as the older ones can seat 7 including the driver. Progress

Could have been a good motor until they got hold of it, I think the sleeper idea is a better bet than what they did.
