One rough welded stainless chimbley..

Five minutes with flappy wheel...

If I could be bothered, I could polish it with a Scotchbrute wheel in the grinder but I was overcome with lethargy.....

Engine all plumbed-in and electrics attached. Radiator fitted and filled with wet. Been waiting for fresh fibreglass supplies that arrived this afternoon so another hour sniffing resin should have the bulkhead finished. Moved most of the wires to under the dash as opposed to wrapped all over the engine. Need to decide where to mount the fuse box and relays next then re-attach scuttle panel, bonnet and nose cone. Last job before it got too dark tonight was refitting exhaust. Also nred to decide where to fit the Vapor Digi-dash. I tried it the other night and although its a but small, it does the job.
I'm not going to have time to fit the LSD and de-dion before 15th so I'll see if I can pop the Atlas!

Will you be taking it to upset the MOT man again?

Yes, I used my trusty, really cheap, MIG welder to do the chimney. I couldn't use the TIG as I needed one hand to hold the bits in place as I tacked them and then I got carried away and finished the welds!

The pump is pumping as there is water circulating through the expansion bottle and bleed pipes.
So, stuck thermostat? Why be OK yesterday but feck-up today? Do I mess about trying to take out the stat to test it or just use it but watch the temp? I think I know the answer and it will be slightly easier to change it before the scuttle and bonnet go back on.
Hey ho. Off I go.....

You can see it's been moving and according to my Pug V6 bumf, it has to move 9.5mm. The slidey marks confirmed it had been moving but it was stuck solid when I tried to pull it out! It slides through a rubber lip seal and this seal had gone hard. A part of the lip on the seal had folded back and it looks like this was causing the stat to stick. So, rather than try to buy a new one, I did this...

That's right. I took a photo.
As the stat form a seal between the ally waterway/tube/casting thing and another waterway/tube/ casting thing, the flange <<snigger/>> had to be refitted, so I pulled its guts out.
Now all of the rad gets hot and the fan keeps things under control. All good.
