there is a MK1 Escort rallying with rotary power - I think the MSA is going to ban them generally in rallying, they're already outlawed in road rallying.

I've since found a site detailing how they can be used in kit planes - and as I've got some plans to build on of them, it may end up flying :D He reported 175hp or thereabouts in a kit plane (and several others have flown them) with runners tuned for a 6500rpm redline - there's some strange harmonics in the interplay between rotors, you can tune them much like you'd pulse tune the inlet manifold of a piston engine

Out of curiosity do you have any of the manifolds etc with it? I assume it was running on carbs?

Put it in the 120y, you know it makes sense. :D

There might be manifolds lying around, I can pick up throttle bodies and various ancillary parts on ebay for cheap, but I was selling as the bare engine

I forgot about the 120Y - I must remember to ask him about it!

I'll be honest I'd be very interested in a 120Y coupe or 2 door saloon needing a little TLC and inside my budget...

Digging up an old thread I know but do you still have that 13b and gearbox?

Yep - I did have a look around for ancillaries, and aside from the gearbox, it was just what's shown in my original photo (we've had a big clearout of the garage in prep for some other projects we plan to start)

Sorry its a bit late - I picked up my engine of choice, a 1.4 K series, at the weekend.

You should get a Midget and put it in, nice lightweight chassis so the lack of torque won't be an issue and if running carbs they apparently fit without any body mods.

At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
