Thought I'd get the little urchin working-



He's tacked together the triangulated bracing to strengthen the area where I had to cut out the cross piece to get the gearbox in. He did complain that he was getting tired when using the junior hacksaw to cut the pieces to lenght Suppose he's only just 7



Both eng mounts are tacked in place ready to be seam welded now-

Made sure he got it seam welded, cleaned up and primed before school starts again tomorrow

Thats good welding skills for a child I remember being terrified of setting myself alight at college

My eldest two say they are going to help me with the car and get bored after about 3 minutes and pester me for their bikes to be gotten out of the shed. I have high hopes for the little one though. His favorite toys are his V-tech toolbox and his 1/43 scale Subaru Impreza and he can't sting three words together yet.

So thats you and Owelly who have kids that can weld while watching teletubbies. If I tried to weld those pieces it would look like a goose has been using the garage as a toilet

Thought I'd take a look at the set of AVO coilovers that came with the chassis. They're supposed to be 13" open 9" closed. Turns out one pair are 14" open and the others 12" open, DOH!! They're about £400 new so I called AVO to see what they could do. They were very helpful and said they could fit shorter rods to the long ones and extended top eyelets to the short ones, and service them at the same time - all for £25 per shock!! They got them Monday at 4.30pm and I had them back Thursday morning Et voila, four 13" shocks for a total of £132 inc vat and p&p.
Did a quick trial fit of the front suspension before I start to paint the chassis-

can't argue with that mate, cheap, fast turnaround, and sooo cool, top job!

Makes me feel bad that I was gonna offer him not a lot for it.

Depends what engine you want to fit really. But either way, once the engine's in then that's the major part of the fabrication work done I think. I've got a load of prep and painting to do to the chassis and suspension next before I start to bolt some bits to it

Had the little blighter priming the chassis last week-



This shot shows my tunnel mods to fit the BMW 'box, and an additional brace across the engine bay corner and passenger footwell-



Now it's primed up it's had to go back in the shed to make way for the MR2V6. That's getting poly-bushed, braided hoses etc over the winter for next years trackday season
