Had a quick read through. Volvo and the 500 both look awesome :D
Price of an original looks mad when you see how many are littered around Italy.

The Pug 205 GTi of Daniel Watts looks smart, has he seen what the insurance is going to cost him once he is old enough to drive it though!

Never realised the R32s cost so much. I love the look and sound of them but for up to 15k there must be better ways to spend your money. At least the depreciation looks good..

Paint stripping article sums up my experience so far, although nothing was mentioned under the disadvantages of Nitro Mors of it leaving traces behind in the metal.
Used it to strip some rocker covers before then painted them then had to do it again after you could see there must have been traces of Nitro Mors still on the surface :-(
I'd love to get my hands on a shot blaster :D

That NOS article wasn't it was it? More of a collection of captioned images rather than a How To and no mention of dry kits.

Who drove the Yellow LCR at Mallory last time round?

Yes, "How to Fit Nitrous Oxide" was basically "Here's some photos of Nitrous Oxide Systems".Like a less comprehensive Google Image search...

And "How to Make Lotus Rims" = "How to Fit Hubcaps", surely?
Or, "How to Lie About Steel Wheels".
Or, "How to Fill Three Pages at Short Notice"...

On the bright side, I liked the Volvo and the 500, and the £200 Track day article was just brilliant :D

Was a little disappointed in the 500 article after all.

Guy has great idea for a fast car.

Guy goes to engineering company and hands over a wad of cash in exchange for designing and building a rolling chassis.

At a guess I doubt that was a cheap request. Loved the car but I wish the guy who built it got his hands dirtier.

Volvo article was great.

Looking forward to the future articles mentioned in the mag

They were my faves too, maybe they might do a more in depth guide on the noz when they fit one to one of the cars..

BTW everybody should do a track day in a 200 quid car its the way forward!

Stop pimping your article

You should NOS it for an extended article lol. I wanted one of those Corollas before. Cheapest I saw one was £400 with plenty of rusty bits on but they sound pretty pokey.

How long do you think yours will last before needing money spent on it?

Are you going to sell those awful wheels to pay for it? :D

It is a very good idea though. I almost convince myself to do a trackday until I see someone smash up a very nice car and I think "I can't afford that"
£200 I could cope with.

I have to agree about the 500 article.
I like the car was interested in it, but it did seem to be a cheque book build.
The guy had a great idea, but I do want to hear more about the trail and error, and moment the fog clears and it all clicks into place.

It's like having an article that goes "I decided I wanted to build my Subaru to WRC standards and performance, so I called ProDrive and 3 months later it was delivered!!" :lolno:

Yes I was very dissapointed with Nitrous feature, esspecially as it was 3 months in the making.
Can't say the 500 did anything for me either.
The R32's are more expensive than i thought they would be VW flooded the market with the last of them for about £20k new a couple of years ago.
I also can't belive they printed the letter about turbos which was completly wrong. There is no such thing as aspect ratio of a turbo.

Does it count we need to fit a new tyre before cadwell? I think thats a running cost, we had to stop doing laps as we felt the front left was getting dangerous!

My blinging 17' "Amir Khans"? Hell no, they are the shittest and coolest thing on the car lol

The plan to get ready for cadwell...

Take out the sunroof mech and weld it shut to give us more head room, fit a tyre, change G/box oil and Engine oil and bleed the clutch. No real cost just service stuff really

I enjoyed this issue and there was bit to read (Volvo, 500, £200 jag racer, paint sripping and staff cars). I agree about the 500 build whats practical to one isn't to another. I am not sure about the NOS article I thought some pages had gone missing and what was the point of the "Finding TDC" piece was somebody bored that day and decided to escape the office. I thought they were building lotus wheels not showing how to put hub caps on - artistic licence I guess. Walkers Workshop should take shorter Christmas holidays as he had nothing much to write about did he?

Despite my grumbles I did enjoy the mag and look forward to the March issue and hope Ed's Minor is making progress, Charlies rover and the tranny van are supposed to be in there.

I actually liked the TDC article but that is coming from the POV of someone with very little mechanical knowledge. I can appreciate anyone with any mechanical skill probably should know it already.

Just read the Zetec RWD article and finished off the shot blasting/stripping article thought they were both great, not too nerdy but informative and gives you those 'This month in the bath' moments.

One thing I meant to post the other day..

The Top 10 car list.

How can you describe the awful Jensen S-V8 as "wasn't even bad looking" and then the Gumpert Apollo as "failed to make the Apollo even vaguely attractive to anyone with a sense of sight. In fact it looks like some kind of horrific Marina-based kit car from the 80's"

!!!

Let's be serious for a moment...

Image

The front end on the Jensen is truely hideous. The Apollo is a loony supercar and looks like a loony supercar :D

I have to agree with you there, that jensen looks like an overgrown micra type thing.

NOS rticle looked more like an advert for an upcoming feature and deffinately not up to PPC's standards.

Rear Wheel Drive Zetec conversion has been done to death in just about every other car magazine out there so was suprised to see it mentioned on the front cover.

However, I shall still continue to buy the mag as it is my monthly self indulgence.

Loved the Volvo but kept looking stock on the outside? With those wheels and the shopping list down the door? do me a favour! Looks bloody fantastic but no-ones going to beleive it hasn't been breathed on when they pull up alongside.

I enjoyed Dazzlers article and nice to see another letter printed asking for more coverage of the £999 challenge this year. It has been my favourite article since they started the event and kick started me into building my own shed-sport/tramp track day car.

Smiler.

WHAT!! :wtf:
You mean the Volvo didn't come with 20" wheels as standard!! :o

I really don't get the shopping list on the doors, but it does make me chuckle when i see a "chavved" Corsa with it on.

There's 1 round here and the list on the door goes like this:
Rally Art
NisMo
TRD
Mopar
HKS
Greddy
Carlsson

I don't think any of those make anything for a fecking Corsa!! :D  :lolno:
