Motoring joy

Right, I notice that some of my recent posts have been a little down beat, possibly morbidly depressing, not sure which. So I wish to redress this by starting a tread celebrating the joy of motoring.
Today I had to pull out of a busy T junction on a slippery surface, my V8 Disco roared into life and I slewed ellegantly across the lane, accelerating with indecent, yet modestly priced, pace. The suspension tweeks worked splendidly and the car that was initially bearing down on me with shocking haste was left in a cloud of detritus and eflux from my exhaust, so that was the plugs cleared nicely too.
Yesterday I was working at a test track, tweeking the new BMW M3 V8, this too was fantastic, being payed to go full bore through a set of superb sweeping curves in sombody elses car. Even better was when they said that they 'could afford to loose one engine during the development process', ah, cars are good.
Hope that cheers the mood.
R.

Well it's made me smile at least, I like the contrast of working on a project where the can afford to blow an engine costing thousands while doing your own V8 motoring on the cheap!

I believe posh types call it 'juxtaposition' or some such gubbins.
It too pleases me.

What you said about your Disco reminds me of the same feeling i used to get from my 4.0 Jeep Cherokee.
There was nothing nicer than drifting round junctions and roundabouts.
It was so controllable too, just give it a dab on the go pedal and a little twitch of the steering and out the backend went, then turn into it and sideways you go 8)
It makes me go all warm inside just thinking about it.

Cheers for reminding me Ralph

Ha Ha Ha....

As a 'sometimes' dweller on The IMP Club forum, one contributor has amassed over 1000 posts, in his thread [advising him on how to set the timing/points!]

anyhoo, he has secured a job as a Staffer on a BMW mag & his bosses suggested he get a BMW(for forms sake).

A wit on the IMP forum quipped "hope someone has warned the BMW forum" ..... Aced! lol..lol..lol

"Possession of a Vehicle with the intent to enjoy ownership" is a "Section 59" offence! In fact if you're seen driving a vehicle whilst smiling you'll be stopped and have your licence taken away and your car crushed in Norfolkshire. :wtf:

At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Each month we feature an eclectic mix of affordable performance cars, great driving adventures and world-class technical features for the DIY tuner.

Everyone who works on the magazine is a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast and this is reflected in the cars we drive and the topics we write about. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
