Anybody got an opinion on whether a 2002 spec Subaru WRX radiator with a couple of electric fans would be man enough to keep my 5.7L Chevy cool

Cheers

I think it probably depends on the state of tune of the Chevy. If it's a fire breathing 800BHP drag monster then no. But if it's a fairly moderate state of tune then I'd say yes. I guess the rad would good for 3-400bhp in the Scooby and that's with a turbo to cool as well. There's probably a formula to work it out but I'd be tempted to try it.

Chevy powered WRX?

I think the best way would be to try it don't let it boil over and get Alu-tec or someone to make one the same size with double the core.

The Chevy's in a Cobra. Just trying to source an "off the shelf" rad. for the job.

The Dax replacement one is over £300 if I remember correctly. My ex had a Rover V8 one and had to sell her 205 GTi to buy a new grill, front valance and radiator after a minor front end shunt.

Does the Scooby rad fit nicely in the available space then? If so then give it a go. Worst case scenario, you'll need to get an uprated version of the same rad.

I came across the Scooby one by looking for the right dimensions combined with high BHP application. It looks like it would fit quite nicely. I have just been advised that a "triple core rad" from a Nissan 200SX is a good fit also. Is this an aftermarket thing or model specific,...anyone know? I know these engines have been wound up and boosted to some pretty radical outputs by the Drifters (not the singing group).
