Hiya all,
Here are some links to projects I have done recently that may or may not float your boat. I'll just put up a link to the threads as on Oldschool.co.nz or retrorides and then I can update them here from now onwards. Saves a heck of a lot of one fingered typing!

First off- my rotary chevette I built in the uk back in 2006. It was featured in PPC and the sold to bloke in Ireland, then crashed, then re-shelled. It's heart still lives on strong.

You'll have to look down the index page on this link and under members cars you'll find 'project rotarvette'

Next up is my Mazda Rx3 restoration which I restored from a pretty rusty but one owner car in 2007. I had always wanted an rx3 but they cost so much here in nz so when i found this rusty one i was smitten. For the 2 years after restoring it I clocked up over 6000 Very trouble free fun filled miles. Then I sold it to another kiwi who was living in London village. He took it back to nz with him and I'm not sure where it's at now.

Then Hannah and I moved back to NZ and we needed a house. So we built this..

Now once that was finished we needed a classic car. I had a 1968 Viva HB. It had to be modified and so what better then to use to my 'bought for £50, carb fed, turbo charged, Mazda rotary engine' that I had owned for a while. I love this wee car. It's so much fun and so far has been pretty bloody reliable. Of course I am constantly fettling with it buts that what old modified cars are about eh! 8)

And now I am lucky enough to be getting paid to build this..

It's basically a ford Falcon with a Bedford CF van dropped on top. Work in progress. Good fun and will be a cool van when finished!

I hope you enjoy reading the build threads. Many cups of tea will need to be consumed.
I did not realise that PPC had a forum so I am looking forwards to reading the build threads on here and having a good ol banter (so there goes more time I should be spending in my shed.... :!: )

That is one crazy mother f*cking housetruck! Is that even road legal?

Welcome along to the party. Beer is on the left in the fridge. Don't touch the stuff on right - it is NOT edible.

You seem to have thing for rotary engines. It looks right in the Viva engine bay but that RX3 looks so much more awesome.

Whats the bright yellow thing on the link?

Cheers. Glad ya like em. Yep the housetruck is fully road legal. In NZ you can build anything you like house wise on the back of a truck here so long as it falls within the usual size limits for a trucks loads and that any windows are either toughened or covered in lexan in case they break.

if its sitting on or built onto the deck of a truck then it's considered a load. Therefore it just has to comply with the usual rules for freight on trucks.

I would have thought that you could do the same thing in the uk too. You could even claim its just a load with regards to insurance? We had a hell of a time in the uk finding insurance companies that would insure our old bedford because we were living in it  you would think insurance would be less- no one would nick it when people are inside. And it's not like it was doing big mileage or would be driven fast. I think it's just the whole stigma against and confusion with regards to people who choose to make a home that has wheels and then live in it.

Have a look here for some more NZ housetrucks....

Too right it will be!

Love it - I instantly went over to eBay to search for a CF...

Falcon's aren't common here in UK but there must be something suitable for a similar transplant?

Too many projects already though :(

At PPC we pride ourselves in providing the most entertaining, informative and inspiring features for petrolheads everywhere. Everyone who works on the magazine is a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast and this is reflected in the cars we drive and the topics we write about. Whether it be fast road, track-day or grass roots motorsport you’ll find it in PPC. Our editorial team is headed up by well known editor Will Holman. Will has a deserved reputation for his ’stick a V8 under the bonnet’ attitude to life and has had (and crashed/ had stolen/ rusted away) enough cars to fill a monthly magazine on his own. His editorial team is stacked with experience with the likes of Dave Walker (speciality engine management), of the sadly-missed Car and Car Conversions magazine, David Vizard, the legendary engine tuning guru, and Kevin Leaper (speciality buying cars in pubs) – ex technical editor of Practical Classics. Have a look at the Staff Cars and features to give you a flavour of PPC but for the real thing get along to your local WH Smiths or independent newsagent. PPC is on sale on the last Thursday of every month.
