Ewen Cameron’s Nissan 200SX S13

PPC contributor Ewen Cameron’s Project V8 Sil80 is effectively the ground up rebuild of his 1994 S13 Nissan 200SX, carrying out some key upgrades and alterations along the way. Ewen did have a spec for the thing, but detail seems to change quite regularly.
Ewen’s plan is to create a RWD Jap plaything to make him grin from ear to ear whether listening to it, looking at it or punting it down his favourite backroad.
It’s not destined to be a track-princess, though it won’t be a stranger to the Nürburgring in Germany if things go to plan.
The key must-have, after spending too much time with PPC Editor Will Holman, is a V8 soundtrack.

Similarly, Ewen wants a bullet-proof drivetrain, shedloads of grunt from tickover, excellent, compliant handling, brakes to match and a look about it that will attract a second glance from Petrolheads everywhere.
The essential ingredients comprise a Lexus 4-litre Quad Cam V8 - blown by an Eaton M112 supercharger – feeding through an R154 Supra Turbo five-speed ‘box to a 1.5 way mechanical limited slip differential. These should reside in a super-rigid shell with 50:50 weight distribution and nice, light unsprung mass. An Apex bushed alignment set should take care of the final approach to handling Nirvana.
Ewen’s wheels of choice are lightweight 16” SSR2s with alloy Nissan 300ZX Z32 four-pot brakes up front. A full, through-the-dash cage is planned to augment judicious seam welding.Externally, Ewen isn’t adding any massive wings or five tons of fibreglass, but the Sil80 homage calls for use of an S13 JDM Silva front end. This will be done using stock Nissan panels as the original Japanese drifters did. That’s Ewen’s ever-changing theory anyhow. Generous benefactors are invited to get in touch via the V8 Sil80 homepage at www.phcentral.co.uk.
Ewen's still trying to complete this project. Life's got in the way at the moment.
